Born in Richmond, Virginia on July 10, 1943, Arthur Ashe was born to Arthur and Mattie Ashe. Arthur Ashe constantly showed leadership throughout his life. He lead the Davis Cup Team, was a leader in the fight against apartheid, fought for fair treatment of Haitian refugees, and lead an AIDS awareness campaign.
